WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CV - RESUME & BIO DATA

There have been a ravaging misunderstanding between these documents and it is of great importance that gap be closed for a better understanding between people at all levels, working class, job seekers and the likes. They are all relevant documents written and are used for various purposes. Briefly, these differences would be highlighted herein.

CV – CURRICULUM VITAE
This is a Latin word meaning “Course of Life”. It is a more detailed document than a resume which generally contains in not less than 2 – 3 pages or even more a detailed requirement of an individual which includes his educational and professional experiences in the fields he/she have found himself.


RESUME:
A resume is a French word meaning “Summary”. A resume is ideally a summary of one’s education, skills which includes hard and soft skills, employment details when applying for a new job. It thus, is usually 1 or at maximum 2 pages long.

BIO – DATA:
Bio Data is the short form for “Biographical”. A Bio Data as used in this context focuses on personal particulars of an individual like data of birth, gender, religion, race, nationality, residence, marital status and the like. This Bio Data is usually found in a resume and a CV usually the first session that says who the owner of a CV or Resume is.
